my favourite quote

This is from a novel written entirely in verse that I read a long time ago. I can't remember the title or the author's name but it was hilarious.

"A pity that the blubbering blobs come unequipped with volume knobs"

rather apt since I have a new grandchild, except that she's an angel of course.

Have worked on the novel today, two chapters, fleshing out a few problem spots. Only twenty more to go, one or two of them yet to be created.

I'm still awaiting feedback on my latest version of pitch and synopsis before sending them and Chapter one to a publisher. I am keen to submit again. What a game this is, periods of intense activity and hope followed by weeks in the doldrums, rather like an ocean voyage except that someone else controls the outcome. But the sails are set and we keep going.

I'm about to start reading Hilary Mantel's book Wolf Hall. It comes highly recommended and prized. It is also very big but I think I'm ready now. I wasn't a few months ago when I first received it. One has to be ready to read certain books I think. I have many on my bookshelves still waiting for me to be ready for them. How long does one keep them waiting? I expect some will never be read because there's a always a new one that takes the eye. We readers can be so fickle.
