Couldn't do much the last 2 days waiting for the back to heal. But I read July's Writing Magazine and Writers News from cover to cover. As usual got lots of ideas, one about travel writing. I have a title already, ran it by Writers Dozen today and made it snappier. All will be revealed when I write it, but I will be researching on my o/seas trip later in the year.
I also got an idea about about reconstructing the memoir around all the borders I have crossed both geographically and metaphorically. I will play around with that idea while GID is being read and sent out to publishers.
Had a hilarious meeting with WD today, critiquing sex scenes. It so happened that the aforementioned Writers Mag had an article about writing sex scenes so we read that out loud to each other. Then we listened to the actual scenes people had written. All different, one graphic but very well done. Of course we laughed our heads off. The only person in the room who hadn't written one was me. I've tried it once and found it very hard (excuse the pun) but now have to come up with one. Oh my.
You're not alone Pauline, I have to come up with one too. Which is a good thing because as you yourself told me, my book does need one! Would love a peek at the article you mentioned - sorry I missed it. I love the idea of organising your memoir around borders you've crossed, it would give it a really interesting structure. Can't wait to read the new travel story and do some vicarious travelling.
