Loving my friends' writing blogs, both very different, both inspirational. (Listed under my blogs on this blog) Thanks girls for sharing. I've bookmarked the sites you recommended, one of which is a 6 word memoir site at Smith Magazine. Could only come up with 3 words to describe me, 'Travelliing, looking, finding.'
I sent synopsis and first chapter of GID to the Friday Pitch at Allen & Unwin yesterday.(Thanks for the gee-up Monique) I was thinking what a nice birthday present it would be to be asked to send more chapters. But I'm not holding my breath.
In her blog Pam mentioned someone who tried 80 publishers before being picked up. It's a lesson in perseverance but I'm conscious of the years rolling by. I'd like to still be able to string two sentences together at my book launch, and get there under my own steam!
Guess what I'll be working on this morning. Yes, Toledo Steel. I feel it's coming right now so it should be in the mail early next week. This time last year I had sent 5 short stories out to the same magazine, (one short listed). Have not been so prolific this year but have not been idle either.
TV is on mute as I write this. National Geographic rolls on. Just saw baby orangutans being loaded into wheelbarrows. They looked like babies in a pram, looking about them, more curious than anxious, although they have plenty to be anxious about. Their forest has been logged so they were being moved to a better habitat.
What has this to do with writing? Absolutely nothing except that such visions can stay with you, and be used later. Now how can I fit orangutans in wheelbarrows into my novels or memoir??????? Much to ponder.
Glad to hear the story is coming along Pauline and that you sent off GID to the Friday Pitch. You never know!
